[ ANOTASI / ABSTRAK ]

This research studied the compressive strength and the drying shrinkage in mortar, when were three types of fly ash from Thailand such as Mae Moh fly ash, BLCP 1 and BLCP 2 fly ash used to replace Portland cement type I of mortar. This study compared all the samples with Ordinary Portland Cement mortar as a control. The fineness of fly ash material can influence to normal consistency, setting time, flow table, compressive strength, tensile strength and drying shrinkage. Normally, the compressive strength and drying shrinkage of mortar with replacement cement by fly ash affected by the hydration reaction, packing effect, and pozzolanic reaction. In the early age, mortar with fly ash has low strength and drying shrinkage than that of OPC mortar. However, mortar with Mae Moh fly ash has higher compressive strength and less shrinkage than that of cement mortar. At the age of 60 days, compressive strength of mortar with Mae Moh and BLCP 1 fly ash is higher than 22.9 MPa of OPC with value of 25.2 MPa and 23.2 MPa, respectively. While the compressive strength of mortar with BLCP 2 fly ash is still lower than that of OPC mortar, which is 21.9 MPa. At the age of 30 days, drying shrinkage of mortar with Mae Moh and BLCP 2 fly ash are less than that of cement mortar. Whereas for BLCP 1 fly ash it is more than that.
